Map & Community
Just about 6 miles from downtown Pittsburgh, the Borough of Etna offers easy access for downtown commuters. It is a small community of around 3,924 that is just under a square mile, bordered by the banks of the Allegheny River, Millvale, Shaler Township, and Sharpsburg. Because it is centrally located, whether it is shopping in the North Hills, going to a game in the North Side, or attending a college or university in the city, nothing is far away!
- The constant glow from the industrial furnaces, erupting with sparks and ashes when opened, Etna was named after being reminiscent of Mount Etna in Italy.
- The borough holds multiple events throughout the year, including Light-Up Night, Memorial Day Parade, Carnival, and an Annual Community Day Celebration.
- Although it is mainly a residential community, Etna holds over 160 businesses within its borders, ranging from industrial firms to family-owned.
- A family friendly community, they have many youth-oriented activities, including baseball, softball, deck hockey, and active scout troops. The community also hosts a pool, playground, and sporting complex on Pine Street.
